Just recently, I saw a statement somewhere which said that rescuing dogs is 50% sadness and 50% relief, and honestly, it’s a very accurate assessment.
When people come across abandoned or stray animals for the first time, it’s genuine heartbreak at the fact that so many dogs are suffering like this and you just want to help them all.
The other half is relief when you see that a rescued puppy is finally safe and has a bright future with a new family.
These are the most precious moments that anyone would want for their pet, and in this article, we will talk about one such rescue story where a dog was saved from euthanization and got a second chance by a kind man.
A Beagle Who Can’t Contain His Joy
Nowadays, it’s seriously common for a lot of owners to turn in their pets and have them euthanized because their medical problems get too expensive to treat.
It was no different for Gregory, the Beagle. He was almost put down before a man named Joe Kirk came to his rescue.
He saved him just 2 days before he was scheduled to be euthanized. This was the best possible outcome, as Joe and his wife, Schenley, run a non-profit organization for rescuing animals, called Hound Rescue and Animal Sanctuary.
It’s based in Findlay, Ohio, and it’s centered around helping neglected animals find new homes and foster care for older and unadoptable dogs.
Schenley said in a statement on Facebook: Gregory is one thankful and appreciative Beagle! He KNOWS he is SAFE!
He is Heartworm Positive and will be going through treatment, but he knows he is in good hands! We will get him healthy and provide him all the love he so deserves and a wonderful future!
Gregory’s New Start
When he was finally safe and in the care of the Kirks, they took him to a veterinarian and provided treatment for his heartworm disease.
Just a short time after his treatment, they put him up on the adoption list, and Gregory didn’t have to wait long.
A family came knocking on the door and they wanted to adopt him. A little while after, he was taken to his forever home.
He is now with his new family and is enjoying his time with them and his new beagle sibling.
Schenley said in a beautiful statement: We are often asked how many dogs we have saved. The answer that always comes to mind is, we have saved one more. One more dog is safe and will have all of the love and respect that they are so deserving of.
One more dog will be properly fed and receive needed veterinary care. One more dog will have a loving forever home. There is no better feeling and nothing in life that is more fulfilling.
If we can take away anything from this story, it’s that a little kindness goes a long way with dogs and that you can always do more to help those in need.

Gabriel Bogner, a man traveling from Los Angeles, California, to New York City, couldn’t imagine his flight without his best friend – the female Great Dane, Darwin.
Being a devoted owner whose gigantic canine didn’t meet standard requirements for boarding a plane, he decided to pay for three seats, so his pooch could fit properly on the flight.

Colossal Darwin Needed A Whole Row
Gabriel spared no money to take his doggo girl with him. He literally paid for three seats (including his) so he and his canine could meet the requirements for boarding the plane.
Once they settled in their seats, other passengers were in shock to see a giant Great Dane taking almost the entire row for himself. But, a real shocker came a few moments later – when they realized that Darwin was the greatest behaving girl ever!
She sat calmly throughout the entire flight, and when she got tired of being the sturdiest, most presentable doggo on the plane – she fell asleep on her two comfy seats.
Her owner took a video of her on the plane and it soon went viral, melting the hearts of millions of people all over the world. Darwin soon became a U.S. star, and due to her incredibly gentle demeanor – she became everyone’s sweetheart!
“Who says Great Danes aren’t airplane dogs. Shoutout to @American Airlines for making our move to Brooklyn a piece of cake though! (Yes I bought 3 seats for us on the plane),” Gabriel wrote under the video.
After the flight, everyone greeted Darwin and she even got to meet the pilots! All of the passengers were just thrilled to see this colossal Great Dane sharing a flight to New York City with them, praising her great behavior and the sweetest temperament ever.
Darwin Is A Service Dog
The reason why Darwin was allowed on the plane in the first place is because she’s a service dog. Her owner, Gabriel, suffers from Crohn’s disease and he just needs to have Darwin with him at all times.
She has been trained to make her owner’s life easier, but she’s also a great companion! The two always travel together and spend all their time next to each other.
Besides her exquisite intelligence, Darwin’s just the sweetest, most intuitive dog ever! Even though she appears as an intimidating, horse-like Great Dane, she’s so gentle and caring around everyone.
This is not a surprise at all, as Great Danes are known for their gentle nature and their one-of-a-kind temperament. They help, get along with other doggos, and even help during the fostering process if trained so!
Gabriel And Darwin – The Unbreakable Bond
Despite his condition, Gabriel and his Great Dane girl are still going strong! The duo has never been more attached to each other, and we hope they’ll just continue to rock in the years to come.
Besides being a good city girl, Darwin also loves hiking and taking long walks with Gabriel. She’s basically the pawfect Great Dane, ready to embark on all kinds of adventures – at all times!
When we welcome pooches in our life, we promise to provide them safety and give them the unconditional love that they deserve.
Knowing that there are so many dog owners who break that promise and end up abandoning their canines breaks my heart. After experiencing abandonment, a dog’s feelings are hurt and their trust in people is lost.
Squishy is one of those abandoned pups whose feelings were hurt, too. After she got dumped on the beach, Squishy stopped trusting people.
Let’s see how her story begins.
Refusing To Get Rescued
Squishy was dumped on the beach on the Saipan, Mariana Islands. She was frightened and she snarled and growled at anyone who tried to come near her.
Having realized that the pup was in urgent need of help, people on the beach reached out to Boonie Babies Rescue.
As soon as Aria Keilbach, the founder of the rescue, received the call, she headed out to the beach. She was sad to find Squishy in such a terrible condition. She was exhausted and severely dehydrated. She tried to drink ocean water.
Squishy had a collar. Keilbach assumed that the pup was abandoned either that day or two days before. The pooch was starved and she suffered from tick disease and mange. It was clear that she had been neglected for weeks.
When Keilbach and the rescue volunteers approached her, Squishy started barking and growling at them.
Although she tried to be brave and appear strong in front of them, Squishy didn’t have any strength left in her body.
They easily caught her and rescued her. Not realizing that she was now in safe hands, she was still terrified.
Learning To Trust
After a few hours, she calmed down. She realized that these humans were there to help her and that they were not going to hurt her.
She stopped barking and she started wagging her tail whenever her rescuers approached.
“By that same night, she was hesitantly accepting pets and giving kisses.”
The love and care that she received helped her recover fast.
“As amazing as her physical transformation has been, her personality blooming has been equally if not even more impressive,” Aria said.
When Aria rescued her, Squishy was scared and unsure of the world around her. Now, she is a confident and smart pup, willing to learn new things.
She enjoys going on adventures and she loves playing with other dogs. She has made many friends.
One of her favorite things to do is work for treats.
Keilbach’s initial plan was to help Squishy recover and find her a forever home. She tried hard not to fall in love with her, but after some time passed, it was clear that she couldn’t fight it anymore.
She has rescued more than 300 dogs on Saipan, and it was Squishy who stole her heart. After witnessing her amazing transformation, she couldn’t let her go.
Squishy was overjoyed because she stayed with her mom, Aria. She was the one who changed her life and made her the happiest dog in the world.
Working on a counter can be boring for some people, but not for this little dog. In the busy world of ours, having dogs on the job can brighten things up.
A dog named Tucson has found a home and a job in a company – yes, a job. He quickly became everyone’s favorite at work. Pretty odd to find a dog “working”, but it sure made his colleagues’ lives a bit more satisfied.
Every Dog Has His Day
The workers noticed a stray dog who would often pass by their company. As time went on, the dog started spending more and more time around the company. The workers grew fond of the dog and quickly developed a love for him.
One stormy night, they decided to let the dog into the store, they couldn’t bear to leave him outside in the cold and rain. The presence of people made the dog incredibly happy, and the workers were glad they rescued him and provided him with a safe place.
From A Stray To A Hard Worker
Emerson Mariano, the showroom manager, couldn’t resist and decided to adopt him, making the store his home. He easily won the hearts of the workers with his cuteness, and he had a calm demeanor because he felt safe among them.
They named the dog Tucson Prime, and ensured he received necessary medical care by taking him to the veterinarian. Tucson then became an official member of the Hyundai Prime showroom, and it turned out to be a great move because customers adored him.
They employed him as a “professional consultant” and gave him phone training. Tucson was promoted to front of house, even though the first idea was just to give the dog a warm place to rest due to his natural ability to greet and connect with guests.
He proved to be an excellent worker and even brightened the workdays for the employees.
Becoming A Face Of The Company
The workers were much more relaxed at work, thanks to Tucson; he brought only positive energy to them. Tucson even received his own employee ID card. His life changed overnight, and now Tucson has his own big family, a home, and even a job.
Hyundai noticed this little hardworking employee and requested him to be part of a national advertising campaign. Additionally, Tucson got his own Instagram account where you can follow him daily.
It’s truly an incredible story of one dog, and we hope Tucson will be with his colleagues for many more years, happy, loved, and satisfied.

The emotional story of Lewis and Titus, from Texas, begins right there, when Lewis had to give up his dog as his landlord threatened to evict him if he didn’t.
The position of a man trapped between the love for his dog and cruel reality is a hard place to be in. Lewis had no choice but to give up Titus until better days came.
There were so many questions at that point, but the most important was – how long until Titus returns home?
Luckily, Lewis did manage to get Titus back. And, their reunion was the perfect moment captured by Austin shelter cameras.

Lewis Was Desperate When A Landlord Asked Him To Get Rid Of Titus
Lewis had Titus for years in their loving home in Austin, Texas. He was the perfect pet. Titus was never hostile or dangerous, but a decent family dog.
Everything was fine until Lewis’s landlord decided that Titus had to go. He demanded Lewis to give up his Pit Bull out of the blue or he would be evicted from the house.
Crushed and devastated by this news, Lewis found himself between saving his family and saving his loving buddy, Titus. It was impossible to find a new place on such short notice, and even if he did find one, there was not enough money for the security deposit and moving costs.
Lewis made the obvious choice in the end, but he was in shock.
He surrendered Titus to Austin Animal Center on a temporary basis until he found a better solution. But, at first, it seemed like goodbye forever. He didn’t know when he would be able to take Titus in again or whether or not he would find another place.
Austin Animal Center Took Titus In
Fortunately, the Austin Animal Center team took over all the care for Titus.
They provided him with a safe and nurturing new home, but the truth is – Titus never actually adapted to shelter life. He was stressed out the whole time he was there, suffering from severe separation anxiety.
“Titus has been stressed out at the shelter and generally having a tough time… we can’t imagine the heartbreak for them or him every time they had to leave without him. They had raised him from puppyhood; they were the only family he has ever known”, said AAC staff.
Lewis Visited His Buddy Every Week
The staff at Austin Animal Center didn’t actually believe that Titus’ family would eventually return and take him back, as there were numerous cases of families surrendering their dogs on a temporary basis and never coming back again.
However, they were surprised when Lewis came the first week to visit Titus. Even though he still couldn’t take him back, Lewis made sure to come every week and see how Titus was doing. During four long months, Lewis visited every week to check up on his buddy.
Every time he came, Titus was thrilled. He would’ve immediately recovered and become the happiest dog in the world for those short couple of hours, but every time Lewis left – Titus was devastated again.
The Reunion After Four Long Months
After four long months of being apart, Lewis finally found a pet-friendly home. He immediately went straight to Austin Animal Center to pick up his buddy. When Titus saw him carrying a leash, he became ecstatic, as he knew that this was the day he goes home.
Their reunion was very emotional and full of tears. The staff from AAC captured this moment, and the story went viral within days.
With new housing in place, Titus’ dad came to take him home… happiness is an understatement for this moment”, wrote the AAC team on their Facebook.
Titus finally came home to his family, and this time, he came home for good. After moving mountains to get him back, there was no way Lewis would ever let him go again.
“I love you more than there are stars in the sky and fish in the sea.”
Well, Mr. Sparks, we could add: and bones buried in the back yard because this love is not an ordinary kind of love.
This is puppy love between two pawdorable pooches!
When I was a kid, I used to believe dogs can fall in love the way humans do. My friends told me I was a bit… well, odd, in a lack of good words.
But, I knew I was right! I knew it from the bottom of my heart. And, when I first saw Winnie and Chips kissing on the window, I knew I wasn’t… odd.
Canine love exists, and it’s even purer than human love!

Winnie And Chips, Sitting In The Tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G
Technically, they’re not sitting in the tree.
Winnie and Chips were kissing, indeed, but they were doing it on an open window!
I knew Poodle mixes are especially friendly, but I didn’t know they were THIS friendly.
Winnie, the sweet Labradoodle, loves making friends more than anything. She’s the ultimate people/dog person, and she doesn’t care whether you walk on all fours, or on just two legs. To Winnie, you’re a friend.
On one of her most recent outside adventures, or better yet, pursuits after new friends, Winnie spotted a potential love interest. To make it an even bigger surprise, it was right before her nose, in an apartment next to hers.
It took two months for Winnie to discover that she wasn’t the only dog in the apartment complex. That’s when she ran into Chips. Even through the closed window, Winnie could see that this dashing boi was her soulmate.
“As soon as she spotted him, she started doing zoomies in the yard and ran up to the window to kiss him,” Sarah Madden, Winnie’s mom, said.
From that day on, a bit of an obsession was born in Winnie. Needless to say, Chips responded with love, too.
“It’s the first thing she does when she goes outside — she’ll run to the window to see if he’s home,” Sarah said. “She gets a little sad when he isn’t. If she hears Chips going for a walk, she always runs to the front door to try and say hi when he walks past.”
However, the love drive-thru window didn’t allow the two pups to properly introduce themselves. Their brief encounters needed to be stepped up a notch. Like a true gentleman, Chips took the matter in his own hands.
Chips sent Winnie a Valentine’s day card, asking her to be his Valentine.
The pawdorable Labradoodle was over the moon! She and her mom knew they had to respond immediately. God forbid another pup in front of the street becomes Chips’ Valentine.
So, they rushed to the pet store, grabbed the coolest toy they could find for Chips, and sent back a note, asking Chips out on a date.
Wow, such a bold move! Way to go, Winnie!
Of course, Chips couldn’t say no. He was too excited to see his Valentine from head to toe pads. He took Winnie out to Puppuccinos and the fresh couple had a blast!
“Winnie had only ever seen Chips through the window, so when they finally got to walk together, she was a little nervous,” Madden said, “but it didn’t take her long to warm up, and they were so happy together!”
The second date is yet to happen. Both Winnie and Chips are picking the pawfect spot. Until then, they meet occasionally and share sniffs through the window or through the screen door.
Winnie and Chips’ love story got people on TikTok so involved that some even say it’s more interesting than their own.
Unfortunately, just recently, Winnie’s mom told her they had to move, so they won’t be living next to Chips anymore. It was a heartbreaking, revealing moment. The girls made a special going-away present for Chips.
Even though they won’t be neighbors anymore, they all strongly believe that Winnie and Chips’ relationship will survive all the obstacles
We, as humans, are often surprised by many things in our daily lives. But, many of those are usually expected and we see it coming.
In some instances, surprises can be unexpected and startle us. In the story we will be talking about today, a woman was in a similar situation when she encountered a dog in the most unusual place.
A Very Sweet Surprise
Bianca Nachmani was just going about doing her usual chores when she was heading down to the laundry room of her building in New York and was pleasantly surprised.
When she entered the room, there was a very large dog there. He was just exploring the laundry machines and got really excited when he met his new friend.
Nachmani told The Dodo: At first, I didn’t know if he had come from an apartment down the hall that wasn’t visible but maybe had a door open, or if maybe he had managed to get on the elevator from another floor without his owner.
It’s safe to say that she was very confused. However, the dog, named Apollo, helped clarify the situation.
He led her to the apartment that he apparently broke out of. She wasn’t sure if Apollo was safe there in the meantime in case he tries to break out again, so she led him back to the laundry room.
Nachmani continued by saying: I’m a dog mom and have always had a huge love for animals of all kinds, so I was thrilled to have a friend to make my chores a bit more interesting — even if he made the process a bit less efficient.
A New Laundry Assistant
She continued with her laundry and Apollo was there to assist by taking her wallet and trying to take it for himself.
Regardless, Nachmani enjoyed his company very much and decided she would stay with him until his family came looking for him.
Some time had passed and his human mom realized that he was gone, so she yelled his name in the hallway to see if he was nearby.
Apollo sprinted all the way back to his apartment and greeted his mom, leaving her completely oblivious as to what he’d been doing this whole time.
Luckily, Nachmani was there to explain the whole situation to her. She said: I just told her that Apollo was hysterical and that I had kept an eye on him in the laundry room. She laughed and was obviously a bit shocked that so much had transpired while she was in the shower.
In the end, this turned out to be one of those surprises that was just really exciting and fun.
