The vehicle that had just passed by caught Violet’s attention—the dog—and many other dogs that were chained up with incredibly heavy metal chains, which not only prevented them from moving freely but also hurt them.

When Violet was rescued, she was approximately two years old, and Angela Stell, the founder and director of the organization, believes she had been chained up her entire life. In New Mexico, it is illegal to chain up dogs without human supervision. Violet and five other dogs were found on a property there.

The county sheriff’s office was sent to the property in an effort to locate the owners, but it seemed that the dogs had been abandoned without care. Once NMDOG took responsibility for all of them, including Violet, the fight for their recovery began.

Stell continued, “She was surprised and still a little nervous. According to them, Violet’s actions may have led to her mistreatment. Fortunately, the puppy is in good condition and is recovering from her mental trauma; once she has fully healed, she will be available for adoption!”
