This touching stori shows the moment a brave dog dove into a lake, paddled out around 200 feet, and saved a fawn from drowning. However, the kind dog did not stop there. Even after removing the small creature from the water, he continued to take care of her.
Harley, a Goldendoodle who is 6 years old, and Virginia resident Ralph Dorn went for a stroll. Ralph and his animal companion frequently visit the nearby lake since it’s a terrific spot for outdoorsy folks to let their adventurous side run wild.
Harley enjoys exploring the area around the lake, but he never ventures too far from his owner. The difference this time is that the dog vanished out of thin air. But Ralph didn’t see his dog until he turned to stare at the lake’s surface. And he wasn’t by himself. The ex-marine immediately realized that his dog was transporting an additional animal.
Six-year-old Goldendoodle “Harley” has become Facebook’s latest hero after saving a young deer from drowning in a lake.
The owners of the dog, Ralph Dorn and his wife Pat, who are both veterans of the armed forces, shared images and videos showing Harley in the middle of the lake outside their house in Virginia, helping the fawn return to the shore.
“Harley clearly didn’t ask why, he just jumped into action,” Dorn wrote in his Facebook post, which has received over 256,000 likes and over 113,000 shares in only two weeks. “Not sure how the fawn got out there,” the post continued.
In the pictures and video, Harley is seen paddling with his new friend until they reach Dorn, who’s waiting for them at the shore line.
While his Goldendoodle licks the newborn deer, he assists Harley in getting out of the water.
“Harley was reluctant to part from the fawn,” Dorn said to PEOPLE. “He simply continued to engage with it, licking and tending to it.”
In his Facebook post the next morning, Dorn stated that “Harley got restless running from window to window.”
We could hear the fawn bleating as I opened the front door. Harley discovered the fawn after running into the tree line. With a cool demeanor, Harley and I returned to the home when the young one stopped bleating and began wiggling its tail.
As a licensed therapy dog, Harley has visited senior citizens in assisted living homes and sat with kids during storytime at the neighborhood library.
The narrative had a good effect on individuals and spread to other nations—at least one responder mentioned they learned about it in Italy.
Pat told People that they were thanked directly for sharing the touching moment.
“We were simply in awe,” Pat remarked. “We were unaware of the response.”
“We’re thrilled that it has made such a positive impact and cheered up so many people.”
