The Heartbreaking Discovery
On August 5th, Paris was found by a municipal animal control officer and brought to the Associated Humane Societies (AHS) shelter in Newark. The sight was heart-wrenching—Paris had sustained a gruesome injury that left her with “half a face.” She was also lactating, indicating she had recently given birth and had likely been separated from her puppies.
Paris’s condition spoke volumes about the suffering she had endured, but her gentle demeanor revealed her unwavering spirit.

For what may have been the first time in her life, Paris experienced genuine kindness. The shelter staff, moved by her courage and gentleness, showered her with love and attention, determined to help her heal not just physically but emotionally as well.
The Road to Recovery
Paris’s journey of recovery showcased her remarkable resilience. Her physical wounds were treated, but it was her emotional healing that truly amazed the shelter staff. Despite her traumatic past, Paris displayed a willingness to trust humans again, greeting her caregivers with a wagging tail and soft, grateful eyes.
Her transformation was a testament to the power of compassion and care.
