Sportswear behemoth Nike has officially signed Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo
For the teen, it’s the most significant contract she’s had so far. Prior to the upcoming football season, Mainoo has been occupied with other endeavors. He was instrumental in England’s advancement to the European Championship final earlier this summer and scored in United’s FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City.
He has remained connected to his American teammates even if he has not resumed training with his childhood side. United have mostly been based in Los Angeles, therefore Mainoo has been lounging there instead of training with Erik ten Hag in the US.
Mainoo has been enhancing his career prospects away from the field, but he is set to join the squad next week. Under the caption “Welcome Kobbie,” he posted pictures of himself signing a contract with Nike to Instagram on Saturday, but he didn’t say a thing.
Promotional photos of Mainoo using the Nike tick emblem and the words “LA” underneath a pitch were also released. Even when he strolls throughout the headquarters, he is being photographed.
Even though Mainoo isn’t sporting Nike stuff in every photo, he’s about to flaunt the worldwide powerhouses. On the other hand, United’s current sponsor is Adidas, a competitor of Nike that makes their uniforms.
Before this, in June, to launch the collaboration, Mainoo showed off Nike during a photo session. “[It’s] a dream come true,” he mentioned back then. “Signing with them is a huge accomplishment.” The partnership is now officially official, thanks to him.
United will likely be eager to offer Mainoo a new deal as well. Despite signing a three-year deal in February, he has an opportunity to solidify his rise to the top of the world game once again. This is in recognition of his rapid elevation to the team and the work he has done as a midfield anchor since breaking into the lineup in December 2023.
