Some dogs don’t have a good start in life. Left to their own devices, they face uncertainty and struggle to survive in terrible conditions. Keanu was one of them. Cruelly abandoned in the forest, he found himself alone, without food or water, in a freezing climate. He had hit rock bottom and lost all hope.

But one day, two kind people found him and changed his life forever.

When Ne La and Adrian saw him, Keanu was close to death. He was lying on the forest floor, with no strength to move or react. eга as if he had given up on life.

They immediately contacted 1 Dog At A Time гeѕсᴜe, who took him to the vet, Denisa. “It took several hours for him to start recovering and responding. At first he could barely lift his head,” says Jayne, co-founder of the rescue.

On the way to the clinic, Keanu was lying in the car, trusting in humanity. He had no choice, his energy had been completely exhausted. Upon arrival, he was hooked up to a drip. Several hours passed before he finally opened his eyes and licked his rescuer’s hand, a silent “thank you.”

That gentle and grateful look captivated everyone at the rescue. “Everyone who met him fell in love with him. He was a very gentle dog, very, very gentle,” Jayne recalls.

For the first week, Keanu didn’t move. He fed and drank, but he did not have the strength to do anything else. A few days later, he finally managed to stand up and take a few steps. It was a touching moment to see Keanu move again. And when he went outside, his recovery accelerated.

Within a few weeks, Keanu recovered significantly. He began walking for longer periods, made friends and learned to play again. His favorite activity is simply lying under a tree and enjoying the moment. “He is such a gentle boy and he is so relaxed with all our other dogs. “He is very much his own and he loves nothing more than lying outside under a tree and just being,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.

Keanu regained his spirit. His eyes reflected happiness and gratitude for having had a second chance. He was ready to reciprocate the love he had received. “He is one of those dogs that appear once in a lifetime. He is a very special dog,” Jayne said.

Soon, he found a loving home and an amazing family. Now he can enjoy life to the fullest, surrounded by love and without having to worry about anything. After everything he’s been through, he deserves it.
