EXCLUSIVE EQUIPMENT: Despite earning £75,000 weekly, Man United loanee Mason Greenwood trains at Getafe with 7-year-old Nike boots.

MASON Greenwood has trained with his new club Getafe in seven-year-old boots after being dropped by Nike.

The striker was pictured training with his Getafe teammates as he gets ready for his expected debut with the La Liga side later this month.

He wore Nike Mercurial Superfly 4 boots – despite Nike cancelling his contract in 2022.

Greenwood was recently seen training alone in a park with his dad – but this is the first time he has taken part in full team training for well over a year.

During the park session in June Greenwood wore black Nike Phantom GX boots.

Since Nike let him go, he hasn’t signed a new deal with any boot manufacturer.

Greenwood is not likely to be match fit, and the pictures of him in the gym seem to indicate that he is more concerned with strength and conditioning.

A video of supporters yelling Greenwood’s welcome to the training ground outside of Madrid was also shared by Getafe.

It was captioned: “We love you Mason Greenwood”.

The striker, 21, has been provided with a pathway back to football by the La Liga side.

In a message to fans, he said: “Hi Getafe fans, it’s Mason here.

“I’m so happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started.”

Getafe also posted a snap on Twitter of Greenwood holding up the club’s blue home strip.

It was captioned “Mason Greenwood ya esta aqui” – which means “Mason Greenwood is here”.

The Spanish club announced the deal just minutes before the summer transfer window deadline arrived on Friday.

United will receive no loan fee and will cover the majority of his £75,000-a-week wage during his time in Spain.

A club statement added: “The move enables Greenwood to begin to rebuild his career away from Manchester United.

“The club will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition.”

Following an internal investigation into his detention, United had already said that Greenwood and the club had “mutually agreed” to part ways.

The Crown Prosecution Service dropped all allegations against him in February after he was taken into custody in October of last year.

Greenwood’s contract has two more years left on it, and the club has the option to add one more year if they so want.

Had they failed to sell him, the club would have been on the hook for over £8 million.

It follows the release of additional information on Greenwood’s move to Getafe, which included his uniform number and £75,000 weekly wage.
