Tom Brady is getting used to not being the biggest athlete in the room.

The retired NFL star, 46, humbled himself on the basketball court as he enjoyed playing with his older son, John “Jack” Edward Thomas, 16, and some friends.

The teen showed off some impressive shots, but the Super Bowl champ wasn’t too far behind, joking in a post sharing photos and videos from the New York City outing on Instagram Tuesday, “I’m gonna need a few more sessions to be able to keep up with this kid soon 😂🏀.”

Both father and son showed off impressive jump shots, with Brady writing, “The jumper is still there though😉🤣.”

While chatting with PEOPLE about his appearance on the “Hertz. Let’s Go Show” in June, Brady noted Jack, who put in time as a quarterback himself last fall, may not continue playing football despite his previous interest in the sport.

“Yeah, he played this last year and I don’t even know if he’s going to play next year,” Brady told PEOPLE about Jack’s potential football future. “And to be honest, whatever he chooses, I’ll be very happy. But he loves lacrosse…basketball’s probably his favorite sport, but he’s a very good student.”

“Again, I think wherever he ends up finding the path, I think for me and his mom just to support that is the best thing possible.”

Brady shares Jack with ex Bridget Moynahan, 52, and is also dad to daughter Vivian, 10, and son Benjamin Rein, 13, who he shares with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen.

Last year, Brady shared a series of photos and videos on his Instagram of himself playing basketball and football with his son — who was already creeping up on dad’s 6’4″ height then.

“Dad still wins for now,” the father of three cheekily captioned the post. “I don’t love my chances next year though.”
