Before their Asian Champions League match, tensions rose between Al-Nassr teammates Marcelo Brozovic and Aymeric Laporte, resulting in a heated argument. The incident was caught on camera, with Brozovic saying something to Laporte that prompted another teammate, Ali Lajami, to step in and separate them. A staff member also intervened to prevent any further escalation.
Both Brozovic and Laporte joined Al-Nassr last summer, with Brozovic making the move from Inter Milan and Laporte departing Manchester City after winning a treble. Al-Nassr aimed to secure a spot in the quarter-finals against Al-Fayha, another team from the Saudi Pro League.
With Cristiano Ronaldo leading the team, Al-Nassr entered the match with a one-goal advantage and secured a smooth progression to the next round with goals from Ronaldo himself and his compatriot Otavio.
Currently trailing Al-Hilal, the leaders of the Saudi Pro League, by seven points, Al-Nassr sees the Champions League as an opportunity to compete for valuable silverware and potentially qualify for the Club World Cup.
