3 players have officially confirmed their departure from Real before the summer transfer window
Real Madrid has lost many legends in recent years, but they have still managed to harness their strengths to achieve success.
Los Blancos will have a completely new look next season. First and foremost, the arrival of superstar Kylian Mbappe and young talent Endrick, followed possibly by other names to replace the departure of three crucial players in the recent campaign.
- Toni Kroos
A club legend who defied age with his ever-improving performances even after crossing the 30-year mark long ago. The Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 2 was Kroos’ final game in the iconic white jersey.
In that last match, the German midfielder provided an assist that helped Los Blancos secure their 15th “big-eared cup” in history. Of course, parting ways was inevitable as no one can defy time, but Kroos’ decision to retire leaves Real Madrid fans feeling deeply saddened.
With their formidable resources and strong allure, the “White Herons” may easily fill the gap left by this German legend with another name, although making fans forget his name entirely will be quite a challenge. Manager Carlo Ancelotti might entrust Dani Ceballos with that task if Real fails to secure Alexis Mac Allister.
3. Joselu
Just a loanee from Espanyol, Joselu etched his name into Real Madrid’s history with a stellar performance in the second leg of the Champions League semifinal against Bayern Munich last season. Coming off the bench, the Spanish striker scored a brace to overturn the odds and propel Madrid into the final.
However, Joselu will not remain at Santiago Bernabeu next season. He is reportedly seeking to leave the Madrid side, feeling that staying would mean struggling to compete against new signings like Mbappe or Endrick. Nonetheless, for all he has contributed to the Spanish royal club, Joselu will forever be cherished by Madridistas. At 34 years old, his quest for a new adventure is understandable, and he is said to be on his way to joining Qatari club Al Gharafa.
3. Nacho Fernandez
The career of the recently announced departing captain didn’t receive much spotlight, much like his quietly determined personality. In his prime, Nacho was a reliable figure at Bernabeu, never complaining but always giving his all for the team.
It wasn’t until the past season, amidst Real’s defensive injury crisis, that Nacho Fernandez’s role truly became pivotal. Concluding his European peak with his own 6th Champions League title was a perfect, fulfilling end to his journey.
